Mansfield Guitars It is difficult to find information about Mansfield Guitars. My father purchased the guitar shown in this picture for $99.99 plus tax November 1974 at the Prom Music store in Sudbury Ontario. Apparently, Mansfield was not a guitar maker but rather a Canadian distributor of musical instruments. As I understand the development and disappearance of Mansfield Guitars, it is said to have involved the Hoshino Gakki company of Japan who make Ibanez guitars. Mansfield Guitars of the 70s are most likely Ibanez guitars. The Ibanez guitars of the 70s are now considered vintaged and collector items. I have not been able to determine what happened to Mansfield Guitars. However, several of the Internet related articles I have been able to find speak of some kind of a lawsuit. The Wurlitzer Co. have in fact been sole distributors for the De Kleist products for many years, and the energy they put in the work did much to add to the success of the De Kleist factory.
